Ten years ago, if a designer mentioned they would like to design their client’s space “Green”, the client would cringe. Many in the general public saw Green as an uncomfortable non-desirable outdoors look with no esthetic pleasing capabilities. Today, this is no longer the case. Green is chic, trendy and possibly the hottest trend for 2009! Our society has become more aware and involved in the preservation of the planet thus shifting the focus of designers to meet the general public’s needs.
I am proud to unveil our collection of green and designer trend articles found in our December/January issue of Canada’s Home Décor & Lifestyle Magazine. I have had the opportunity to chat with Sarah Richardson of HGTV’s popular series, Sarah’s House. During the interview, I got an inside look on her new series Sarah’s Cottage, her take on design trends and how she started her career in design. I am sharing this information with you in this issue now on newsstands. In the spirit of things, Sarah has also written a special message to our readers on our front cover.
No matter what kind of home you live in or where it is in Canada, our new section Coast to Coast Homes & Condos will give you the opportunity to explore the ever changing designs from one province to the next that are sure to inspire a few changes to your own design. One of the homes we are featuring is a beautiful rustic design situated by the Atlantic Ocean in Nova Scotia. This 4 million dollar abode feature is certainly a must read.
