It can be depressing when you look into your wardrobe for something to wear for the Christmas work party and the cupboard is bare. Maybe your closet is outdated; maybe you’ve gone up or down a dress size. Whatever the reason, it’s time to hit the shops; but first, you have to know what you’re buying for this festive season. Read on for some great ideas on what to wear this festive season.
The Little Black Dress
If you don’t have a suitable little black dress anymore, for goodness sake, buy yourself one. The little black dress is something you can wear time and time again, no matter what the occasion. It may not be the most festive outfit in your arsenal, but you don’t need to wear bells and appliqué snowmen to get into the holiday spirit. As usual, accessories come to your rescue here: match your dress with red shoes, jewellery, and handbags.
For more colour, buy a little red dress. Almost as classic as its black counterpart, red suits almost everyone and looks fantastic during the winter months. Your main concern is finding a dress that flatters your body shape: everything else is a secondary concern.
When it’s chilly outdoors, you don’t necessarily want to walk around in a short dress and heels. For those of you who much prefer to wear trousers, a nice pair of flattering, black slacks can work wonders. Again, choose designs which flatter your figure. A pair of black trousers can look exceptionally sophisticated when dressed right.
Dark jeans are a magical choice for casual get-togethers. When paired with a cute jumper or top, you can look laid-back and stylish at the same time. Never turn up with holes in your jeans – you still want to look sexy and skinny. For that extra Christmas cheer, wear boots, a red or green jumper, and match with a warming scarf.
It’s fairly common to go to a fancy dress Christmas Party. You won’t be strapped for choice either around the holiday season – everyone and their mothers are dressing up around Christmas time. Whether you want to go as a geeky elf or a sexy Mrs Claus, be careful not to go too kinky in your choice of outfit, if you’re going to a work do. It’s inappropriate to “bare all”- keep it classy.
Black Tie Deal
If, for some reason, you have been invited to an extremely posh Christmas party, it’s time to take your outfit up a notch. Let’s be honest here: this isn’t going to come cheap. Men get out of this excruciating situation – they know they need a black suit and tie. Women, on the other hand, need to decide whether they are going to go for knee-length or floor-length gowns, velvet or satin, black or red material.
There are so many factors to consider, and at the end of the day, you need to choose what looks good on you. Match with pearl, gold, or silver jewellery. If you own some diamonds, it’s one of those rare occasions where you can crack them out, so really sparkle on the dance floor.
