The classic children’s book is a must-read for every parent and child. You probably delighted in it when you were a kid, and it’s time to share the magic with your little one. The hungry little caterpillar quite the funny food binge before becoming a beautiful butterfly. It’s wonderfully illustrated, and it’s just one of Eric Carle’s great insect books for kids. Other books by Carle star various insects including a cricket, spider, ladybug, and firefly.
Have You Seen Bugs? by Joanne Oppenheim
This rhyming book is a great choice for young ones who are curious about insects and bugs. It discusses many different types of insects, and it describes their unique features in charming poetry. What makes this book extra special is the 3D pop-out illustrations by Ron Broda. The back of the book includes a bug index so it’s easy to find the information for the exact bugs your child wants to learn more about.
I Like Bugs by Margaret Wise Brown
This is another rhyming insect book, and it’s awesome for young readers. With this book, they can practice basic reading skills and learn about some very interesting creatures. Margaret Wise Brown is best known for her book Goodnight Moon. Chances are you loved that book as a child, and now your children do, too. The character and skill that make Goodnight Moon so appealing are also present in I Like Bugs, so you must check it out.
Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
Charlotte’s Web is a classic children’s novel that’s excellent for insect-lovers and young readers ages eight and up. Charlotte’s Web is the heartwarming tale of a talented pig named Wilbur and his friend Charlotte the spider, who spins a web in order to save Wilbur from his unfortunate fate on the farm. Your child will love the animated personality of a oftentimes misunderstood little insect. After reading Charlotte’s Web, you can also enjoy the feature films that were based off the book in both 1973 and 2006.
Children’s Guide to Insects and Spiders by Jinny Johnson
This extremely informational book is great for children ages 10 and up. It contains hundreds of facts about insects and spiders, and it describes many different types, along with full-color illustrations of the species. Whether your child is very interested in insects or just wants to learn more about a specific type of bug, this book is an excellent pick to help them learn.
