Skyline Luge Ride

In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show, James Dudfield shows how to ride the Skyline Luge.

James Dudfield: Hello Marc and Mandy. Welcome to Downhill Karting. We’re at the Calgary location, which is one of seven locations we have around the world. So what can you expect: it’s a three-wheeled gravity-filled car. You can go down a 1.8 kilometer track. The rider has full control over the car during the whole ride, so you can go as fast or as slow as you want. Whether you’re six or 106, it’s good fun for all. All you need to do is grab a helmet and come for a ride. And on our chairlift, which is just a quick five-minute ride up to the top, you look out over the lovely city of Calgary. From there, you can make your way to the instruction area where you can get instruction on how to do downhill karting. This is where we separate the first time riders and second time riders. 

What to expect from downhill karting: Once you’re in the kart, it’s very important always keep your feet inside the kart at all times. Place both hands on the handlebars, pull them all the way back, and hold it there. That’s your brake. As you release the handlebars, you will move forward, as quickly or slowly as you like. Turn the handlebars left or right to control the direction of your kart.
