How To Create an Elegant Ponytail Hairstyle

If you have a formal or semi-formal occasion coming up, you might be inclined to do something special to your hair. If you’re not up to the steep price of a salon styling, you’ve come to the right place! In this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show: Try This, Rada Sarn Sidhu of Salon Picasso shows viewers how to create an elegant ponytail hairstyle. Step 1: Prep the hair
To start this hairdo off, curl the hair using a wide barrel curling iron. 
 
Step 2: Pin the crown
Next, grab the crown part of the hair and pin it in the back so that it creates some height and volume at the crown of the head.
 
Step 3: Twist the sides
Next, take the side portions of the hair and liberate a few tendrils next to the face on either side. Take the rest of the side hair and gently twist it on either side, just to add soft texture. Once you have twisted the hair, and loosened the twist a little bit, pin each twist to the back of the head. TIP You can choose to create a loose braid for the side hair in lieu of the twist, if you like the look of a braid better.
 
Step 4: Create the pony
At this stage, you should have a half-up, half-down style. You can either leave the hairdo as is, or begin to create a low pony by gathering the remainder of the hair at the nape of the neck and securing with a clear elastic.
