Today on The Marc and Mandy Show: Ask An Expert, Franco Borrelli from Hallmark Auto Body shares some advice about what to look for in an auto repair shop. Keep reading for the expert-approved Q&A.
Q: What should a consumer remember when choosing a collision repair shop to fix their vehicle.
Franco Borrelli: Remember, as the owner of the vehicle, it’s your job to decide who repairs that vehicle. Here are some things to keep in mind:
  1. Choose a shop that’s been in business for a long time and a shop that serves the local community. If you have to come back in the years to follow, they’ll have a history of your repair and they will be there to take care of you.
  1. Educate yourself and ask questions about the repair process. If the shop is going to to engage and answer your questions, they’re going to take the time to understand what your needs are and they’re going to repair that vehicle to your expectations.
  1. Ask for a tour of the repair facility. That’s a great way to visually confirm your choice. If the shop is neat and organized and tidy, then chances are the repair process is going to be done in the same manner.
Today’s vehicles are highly complicated and complex, so they require a high level of sophistication to be repaired properly. These vehicles have computerized systems, they have electrical components, they have censors that need to be recalibrated, and they need to be pre- and post-scanned to make sure they’re put back on the road safely. So ask the shop, do they reinvest in training and do they reinvest in the equipment required to bring the vehicle back to OEM specifications so that the vehicle is safe for you and your passengers.
