For most, real estate is uncharted territory. In that spirit, this segment ofThe Marc and Mandy Show: Ask An Expert, features Tessie Martone of Preston Myre Real Estate. Today, Tessie shares some expert tips re: things to avoid when selling your home.
Q: What sort of things should I avoid doing when I’m preparing my house for sale?
A: Some major decorative elements to avoid: Big Mouth Billy Bass, taxidermy, and anything that may not appeal to a broad range of buyers. Another trend that buyers aren’t too keen on is white kitchen appliances. So if you have the funds, I definitely recommend upgrading your appliances to stainless steel. Finally, if you have carpeting in your bathroom, you need to get rid of that, and replace it with either vinyl or ceramic flooring or tiling.
Q: What should I do to improve my home?
A: First off, paint your entire property with a nice, neutral color. Think: white, grey, or even a soft blue will work. Another popular home improvement is the addition of crown mouldings, which you can install on yourself for a reasonable price. These types of improvements will go a long way in helping you to sell your home.

Good tips! Although one of my biggest pet peeves is people who won’t buy a house because the appliances aren’t stainless steel, as if they can’t easily sell what they don’t like and get new ones.

I think a lot of these are a waste of money
