The 3 Best Ways to Juice a Lemon
Just like there are numerous ways to tie your shoelaces, there is more than one correct way to juice a lemon. Food expert, Irene Ngo from Hello Fresh, shares three great tricks that will make juicing lemons easier and more efficient.
Trick 1: Use The Microwave
Juicing a lemon can be a strenuous job. Rather than breaking a sweat every time you need fresh lemon juice, pop your lemon into the microwave to soften it up before juicing it. 20 seconds in the microwave should do the trick!
Trick 2: Use A Fork
Don’t have a lemon reamer on hand? No problem. Our food expert recommends using a fork as a reamer alternative. Once you’ve microwaved your lemon for about 20 seconds, slice it in half, and stick the fork into the open face. Then, simply squeeze the lemon with your hand, while simultaneously twisting the fork with your other hand.
Trick 3: Use Tongs
A pair of tongs can make for another effective alternative to a lemon reamer. Simply slice your microwaved lemon in half, and place it between the handles of the tongs. Then, use your hands to squeeze both ends of the tongs together, ensuring you have an empty bowl underneath. This should cause the lemon juices to be squeezed right out.
There are countless ways to utilize fresh lemon juice when you cook. Our food expert recommends fresh lemon as a component of a crowd-pleasing salad dressing. Simply whisk your freshly squeezed lemon juice with some olive oil, mustard, and honey, and serve with a salad of your choice.
