3 Things to Know when Designing a Sunroom
Let’s face it: no home is complete without a sunroom to relax, entertain, and convene as a family in. In the spirit of sunrooms, sunroom expert Matt Jacewicz, of Four Seasons Sunrooms, answers your questions about sunroom heating, four seasons use, and value of investment.
Q: Can I use my existing furnace to heat my sunroom?
A: This is generally not the best idea for a number of reasons. Because the sunroom tends to be an addition to the rest of the home, your existing furnace will not intuitively channel heat to it. A better idea is to employ an independent heat source for your sunroom addition. This could take the form a fireplace, a split unit, or otherwise.
Q: Can I use a sunroom all year round?
A: Absolutely. Once you’ve delegated an independent heat source for your sunroom, you can use your sunroom just like any other part of your home, as frequently as you like, in whatever season you like.
Q: Would a sunroom be a good investment?
A: Again, absolutely, for a number of reasons. First of all, a sunroom can be used every, single day, if desired. Secondly, a sunroom will never go out of style, meaning it can be enjoyed for the next 10 – 15 years. Besides those factors, a sunroom could be what sets your home apart from other homes in the eyes of prospective buyers, so down the road, when you’re ready to sell, you’ll likely get a return on your investment; (and then some)!
