The Perfect Quick Holiday Party Hairstyle

If you’ve got a holiday party or two on the horizon, you might be puzzling over what to wear and how to do your hair. Praise Okwumabua, of Freshair Boutique, can help solve at least one of those two things with today’s segment. Keep reading for her quick and easy hair tutorial perfect for those holiday parties 

Step 1: Backcomb

For this first step, you’ll need to use an appropriate brush. For obvious reasons, a brush intended for backcombing – (a.k.a a teasing brush) – will help you achieve the best results. If you don’t have a teasing brush on hand, any brush with boar bristles should do the trick as well. Begin with one section of hair at a time and backcomb for as much or as little volume as you’d like.

Step 2: Curl

Next, begin to curl the mid- to bottom section of your hair, aiming for loose, romantic curls. Keep in mind that you’ll be twisting the hair into a half-up ‘do in this tutorial, so no need to spend to much time on getting the perfect curl.

Step 3: Twist

Using a front section of the hair, simply twist the section with your fingers until it appears to be rolled. Then secure the rolled section with the pin at the back of the head, close to the nape of the neck. To hide where you’ve pinned the rolled section, repeat the twisting step on the opposite side, and tuck that section over top of the existing bobby pins. Once you’ve achieved the desired style, use hairspray to set the look.
