Deck Design for Modern Homes
In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show, celebrity access reporter Holly Nimens visits with Kate Campbell of Regal Ideas to chat about low maintenance back yards and deck design ideas for modern homes.
Why are low maintenance back yards so trendy?
As great and advantageous back yards can be, they also tend to be a lot of work. What a lot of homeowners are realizing is they want to spend the bulk of their time enjoying their outdoor spaces, rather than maintaining them. Fortunately, there are more and more options for low maintenance back yards and deck design.
What are some low maintenance options for decking?
Traditional decks require constant upkeep, including sanding and painting. They are also prone to insects, rot, and mold. Alternatively, people are opting for low-maintenance composite decks, which provide the full function of a traditional deck, without all of the upkeep.
What are some low maintenance options for railings?
The same goes for traditional wood railings; they require a lot of upkeep, which don’t necessarily ensure longevity. Aluminum railings are a no-fuss alternative to wood. Railings with glass partitions, rather than wood posts or a solid partition, allow for your view to be visible and prevents the deck from feeling closed in. Glass is also easy to clean and care for.
What are some low maintenance options for stairs?
Stairs don’t have to serve a singular purpose of utility; statement stairs can serve as a focal point for your outdoor space, and can also be formed using low-maintenance composite materials.
