DIY T-Shirt Scarf
The clothes in our closets tend to have a certain lifespan, but just because an item has reached the end of its life, doesn’t mean it needs to be garbage-bound. It the spirit of the three Rs, (reduce, REUSE, and recycle), DIY Expert Anita Recksiedler shows us how to turn an old t-shirt into a fun scarf.
What you’ll need: old t-shit (long sleeve or short), scissors
Step 1: Cut to Size
Once you have the long sleeve or short sleeve t-shirt you’re ready to part with, simply cut straight across the chest area, liberating the sleeves and shoulder area. Then, cut the hem off, using another straight cut. You will now be working with the square section of t-shirt fabric.
Step 2: Cut Fringes
On both of the open sides of the square section of fabric, cut slits. The slits should be about 4 to 6 inches long.
Step 3: Open it Up
Once you’ve cut the fringes, your DIY scarf is ready to wear. To wear, simply open the t-shirt up, re-fold it in half, so that the fringed sides are together, and pull the fringes to give them some bounce. Your scarf is now ready to wear!
What a fun idea!
