Expert Q&A: Weighted Blankets
In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show, Leslie Brooks from Hippo Hug answers questions about weighted blankets. Keep reading for the Q & A.
Q: What is a weighted blanket?
Leslie Brooks: A weighted blanket is a comfort device for people with sleep and sensory concerns. We see weighted blankets used for people with a wide range of conditions, such as anxiety, insomnia, and PTSD. Weighted blankets can sometimes be used by clients with cancer and chronic pain. At Hippo Hug, we have up to seven different sizes so that you can get a weighted blanket that’s going to suit what you need individually. We also have weights from three to 34 pounds. It’s important that you get the right weight. So, typically, we want people to choose something between 5 and 15 percent of their body weight, so that you’re a safe range and you can sleep comfortably, without worries about too much weight.
Why Hippo Hug?
Hippo Hug weighted blankets was founded in 2012 out of Calgary, Alberta. Today, Hippo Hug ships blankets all across Canada and the US. They create Canadian-made weighted products to settle the body, comfort the soul and provide calm.
