Expert @ Home: Lighting Trends

On this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Lara from Living Lighting shares new lighting trends to brighten up your home.

Mandy: Everyone wants their homes to be well lit and I have Lara from Living Lighting here to give us some tips on how we can easily do that. So what are some ways we can easily bring more light within our homes?

Lara: The first easy way to bring light into your home would be to bring in some more floor lamps and table lamps into your space. And some of them have an arm you can pull down. For task lights, like reading or sewing, another easy way is to look at your fixture and change it out for a fixture maybe that has more sockets in it. So maybe going to a chandelier that has like six to eight bulb spots as opposed to maybe three or four. And that way, the light’s gonna spread further and give you more illumination in that space.

Mandy: Now a trend I’m noticing is under cabinet lighting, tell me a little bit about that?

Lara: They’re doing some really fun things with that now and you can get these LED tape lights that change color and that are WiFi friendly. So you manipulate them from your phone app to change colors to the music, and you can change the light be white during the day if you’re working and then change it for fun in the evening. It’s really exciting and kind of cool. 

Mandy: Now, let’s talk about the outside of the home. You know, in the evenings you want to make sure your home is well lit, what are some ways we can do that?

Lara: So, some simple ways is to add some landscape lighting to your pathways and also to look at your front door lighting and make sure you’ve got nice bright lights at your front door.
