He Said She Said: Returning Food At A Restaurant

Mind the dress code

Different restaurants have different attire expectations. If it’s your first time at a restaurant and you’re not sure how to dress, be sure to check their website or call ahead to find out the dress code.

Wait for everybody to be served

It can be tempting to dig in as soon as your food is served (especially if you’re hungry!). That said, the polite thing to do is to wait until everyone’s food is served before you start eating.

Signal your server non verbally

If you need salt or if it’s time to settle your check, you can signal to your waiter by making eye contact or by simply raising your hand. Avoid calling out to your server verbally which can disrupt the dining experiences of others.
