In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show, Mandy chats with Adam Bellas about the mixed wood furniture pieces from Autonomous Furniture.
Mandy: I’m here with Adam from Switzerland and we’re talking about some beautiful furniture pieces. So, today we’re talking about some beautiful pieces from the Autonomous Collection. Tell me a little bit more about them.
Adam Bellas: Autonomous Furniture is a great company from Victoria, BC. All of the pieces are designed and made in town in Victoria. They source all their materials locally from a private wood lot. It’s all finished with wood safe oil wax finish. They have beautiful woods available in a lot of different colors. And we’re really excited and proud to be representing them.
Mandy: Are you finding people are being drawn to this kind of mixed wood trend?
Adam Bellas: I’ve seen a lot of our clients coming in asking for mixed mediums. So having a dark base with a light top or a light base with a dark top. So Autonomous mixes acrylic with wood and metal with wood and also this black recycled paper. So they have a lot to offer when it comes to contrast.
Mandy: Tell me about some of these pieces from their Claire Collection?
Adam Bellas: So, the clear end table that you can see here it’s highlighting a contrast between the wood top and the black base. The black base is actually made of 60 recycled paper. So, they’re also a pretty responsible company when it comes to sustainability. They use this mixing of materials in a lot of their designs.
