Adding Millwork in Home Design
In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show: Love Your Home, Karly Ganczar from Style Kitchen Design shares great ideas for adding millwork in your home design.
Marc: If you’re wanting to add that special something in your home, we have Karly from Style Kitchens and she has some great ideas for your millwork. I got to say, there’s so many things that we can do when it comes to millwork other than our kitchens. So, what is the number one place you think that people should be integrating millwork?
Karly Ganczar: The bathroom for sure. Everybody thinks of millwork in kitchens, but the second most important room is the bathroom. Som we see quite a few different trends. Your classic white vanities, keeping it bright airy and clean and fresh. We’re also seeing a lot of very warm wood tones coming back. So the black walnuts, the white oak cabinetry, and in addition, punches of color. It just adds a splash to your bathroom. One of the other things too that’s really popular right now is the open-concept home. So, I love how you can actually integrate some millwork in the living room as well. So, millwork is used in pretty much every room of the house, and in this project we incorporated a solid piece of reclaimed Douglas Fir as a mantle, which was just beautiful. And down below what we did is we added in extra storage cabinetry with touch latch hardware. We did wire mesh fronts, so you can still use remotes to control all of your electronics. And speaking of storage, I think that people underestimate the value of having a well-organized walk-in closet. Everybody needs a fantastic walk-in closet just like this one. We did a high-gloss acrylic white cabinet, flat door style with champagne gold hardware, and a beautiful chandelier.
