From Rotten to Remarkable: Unleashing the Potential of Wood with Ecopoxy
Ecopoxy specializes in turning old wood into masterpieces. In this interview, Jack Maendel from Ecopoxy explains how their product can transform old furniture and family heirlooms into something new and amazing.

Jack then shares a personal story about a childhood tree that had to be cut down due to its weak structure. The tree was turned into wood slabs and after drying for a few years, it was transformed into a beautiful coffee table. What makes this table unique is that the weak part of the tree, which led to its removal, is now a feature centerpiece in the furniture. The tree lives on in their house, creating a conversation piece.
The conversation then shifts to another interesting project involving pine cones. Jack explains that creating a project with pine cones is simple. All you need is a mold, such as a cardboard box inside a plastic bag, and fill it with epoxy mixed with wood and pine cones. Once it cures and is demolded, the result is a beautiful art piece, like a salt and pepper shaker, with stunning patterns.
Marc asks about the ease of using Ecopoxy and if one needs to be an expert or a woodworker. Jack mentions that experience certainly helps, but with practice, anyone can become proficient in using Ecopoxy. He suggests starting with a simple project, like pouring epoxy on a piece of wood to create a serving tray.
The conversation also touches on the variety of colors and metallic options available with Ecopoxy. They offer eight solid color pigments and 30 different metallic colors, allowing users to create any art piece they desire.
