Are Points Cards Worth It?
We all have them, points cards accumulated from various grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. We use them because the cashier always asks for them, but are they really worth hauling them around with you wherever you go? On this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show: He Said She Said, Marc and Mandy discuss if points cards are worth it. Check out the video above to find out what Marc and Mandy have to say on the matter, or keep reading to find out about how to maximize the benefits of reward programs.
Understand your cards
Not all cards are created equal. Some allow you to collect points, while others offer immediate cash back. Understanding the perks of each of your cards will ensure you use the right card at the right time, while getting the most out of them.
Say yes to the welcome bonus
Most cards also offer some sort of welcome bonus for signing up for them in the first place. If it’s not clear that there will be a welcome bonus of some kind, be sure to ask if you’re eligible for one.
Keep track of special offers
Card issuers often run limited-time offers that can provide elevated rewards rates. Usually, you will be notified of these programs via email, so make sure you stay on top of those emails (so keep them out of your junk folder).
