Awnings And More
On this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, we learn about the modern looks and styles of awnings with Jason Smith from Awnings And More.
Marc: We are here with Jason from Awnings and More. It’s great to have you because I find that when I was looking at these awnings that you guys do, which are absolutely stunning I have to say, they’re a lot more modern than what they used to be.
Jason: Yes, actually, that’s probably one of the most surprising things people react to when we show up and go through all the different examples. They have that traditional stereotypical trailer park or grandma’s awning in their mind and when they see these modern products with beautiful clean lines, they’re just blown away. And they say wow that’s something I would love to have on my house for the next 10 20 years.
Marc: How long does an awning last when you install it on a house?
Jason: With custom awnings that we offer most of our brands typically last 10 to 20 years because of really heavy duty construction frames and high quality fabrics. The frames are made out of aluminum that’s powder coated to create a maintenance free finish. And when it comes to fabrics, we’ve all heard of vinyl and cheap plastic lightweight type canvases on different products, and those are only going to last you a few years. And so you really want to focus on high quality dyed acrylic fabrics. And an acrylic is a thicker cloth like material that it’s going to be water resistant and mold resistant and keep clean but best of all they just don’t fade because that color’s died through the fabrics during manufacturing and it just retains that beautiful look for 10 to 20 years.
Marc: And you save money on electrical bill as well. There’s benefits for inside the house, so it’s not just the outside right?
Jason: I’m west facing myself and I’m just pounded by that sun. And when I have that awning out it just cools my windows down dramatically and my air conditioning units don’t have to run as hard and heavy. And of course those harmful UV rays are blocked out as well.
