In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show, Marc chats Chris Galer from POCO Building Supplies about supplies and advice to build your outdoor oasis.

Marc: Hey guys, I’m so excited because we have Chris from POCO Building Supplies and he’s going to be showing us all the materials that we need to build an outdoor oasis. So, Chris, I gotta say you guys have been in business for over a hundred years and it’s a fourth generation family business, right?

Chris Galer: That’s correct, we’ve actually been in business for 102 years, but we didn’t incorporate until 1921, so that’s the actual trading date that we use. Our 100 year anniversary is this year in 2021 and it’s pretty amazing to get here after four generations. And, you know, I love buying supplies from family-owned businesses because I find that the customer service is there. 

Marc: So, when I’m looking for an outdoor deck, what kind of products are really big this year?

Chris Galer: Well, in our market there is a wide range of products. And it’s everything from your typical treated pine to yellow cedar and red cedar. And then, you have the full composite line that we offer here to our clientele depending on the aesthetic they’re looking for for their outdoor living space. And we offer a full line of exotic hardwoods actually at the store, 

Marc: What kind of piece of advice can you give regarding building supplies?

Chris Galer: Make sure you shop around. You want to know what the competitive price is in the market, but remember that price isn’t everything. You want to make sure that you’re dealing with a company that can support you through the whole project.
