Before/After: 70’s Split Level Renovation
Who doesn’t love a good before and after shot? In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show: Design Tour, Celebrity Designer Evelyn Eshun tours a recent home renovation with Gord of Lifestyles by Barons!
Before:
The home has gone through a total transformation. Prior to the renovation, the home was your typical 1970s split-level, so it had walls everywhere and it was dark and a little depressing. Additionally, the kitchen was on the small side and was comprised of a dated color scheme,
Design Vision:
The client wanted a total new reality: something modern, airy, and inviting, with rooms that better utilized the space at hand.
After:
As soon as you walk into the home, you’re struck by the high ceilings and the airy, open-concept layout. Three rooms, including the original kitchen and dining room, were combined to make one spacious gourmet kitchen, with lots of natural light and its own entrance to the backyard. The new and improved backyard is definitely a selling point with easy access to it on each level. Finally, the basement in its renovated state hardly resembles a basement anymore. It includes floor-to-ceiling picture windows, contemporary decor, and a linear fireplace.
