Citrus Caprese Salad Recipe
Caprese salads are great when made traditionally, (using tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil leaves, and a balsamic reduction), and even better with a twist! In this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Mandy shows Marc and our viewers two modern twists on a traditional Caprese salad.
What you’ll need: grapefruit, oranges (navel or blood oranges), mozzarella cheese, basil leaves, balsamic vinegar, honey, salt, peaches
Version 1: Using Citrus
- Start off by slicing up your grapefruit. If your grapefruit is on the soft size, make sure to make the slices nice and thick. Then, remove the rind. Slice up your orange in the same manner.
- Next, slice up your brick of mozzarella cheese. Ensure your slices are nice and thin.
- You can now begin to plate your salad by layering a slice of mozzarella over top of a slice of grapefruit. Top it off with a fresh basil leaf, and a slice of orange on top of that. Repeat this step until your plate is full.
- Drizzle a balsamic/honey reduction over top, and sprinkle on a bit of salt.
Version 2: Using Peach or Nectarine
- Start off by slicing up your peach or nectarine.
- Next, slice up your brick of mozzarella cheese. Ensure your slices are nice and thin.
- You can now begin to plate your salad by layering a slice of mozzarella over top of a slice of peach. Top it off with a fresh basil leaf. Repeat this step until your plate is full.
- Drizzle a balsamic/honey reduction over top, and sprinkle on a bit of salt.
