What you’ll need: 2 cups flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tbsp baking powder, 1 tbsp cocao powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 3/4 cups buttermilk, 1/3 cups melted butter, 2 large eggs, 2 tps vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar, 2 tps red food coloring
Step 1: Wet Ingredients
Start by cracking your large eggs in a bowl as well as 1 3/4 cups of buttermilk. Mix it all together.
Step 2: Dry Ingredients
Next up: flour. Add two full cups of flour into your egg and buttermilk mixture and continue to mix. Following the flour, you can add in 1/3 cup of melted butter, followed by two teaspoons of vanilla extract. Then, baking soda, sugar, and cocoa.
Step 3: Make It Red
Since these are red velvet waffles, you’ll need some red food coloring to seal the deal. Mix everything together slowly, to avoid making a mess.
Step 4: Cook The Waffles
Pour your batter into your waffle iron and let the iron do the rest of the work for you.
Step 5: White Chocolate Sauce
While your waffles are cooking, you can get started on the sauce. Chef Rob recommends topping off your Red Velvet Waffles with a decadent white chocolate sauce. Serve this delicious breakfast treat drizzled with sauce and chocolate chunks for good measure.
