Your cottage doesn’t have to look like a time capsule; instead, your cottage property should be a reflection of your unique style and design preferences. In this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Kelsey Kosman chats with Marc about creating a beautiful cottage look.
Because we tend to spend less time in our cottage properties, they can quickly become home to unwanted clutter. That said, the cottage should be a place where you retreat to for calmness and serenity. With that in mind, keep clutter to a minimum. Moreover, they can become places where we dump our old and unwanted furniture. To show your cottage property more love, try to keep clutter to a minimum and be selective about what furnishings you choose to keep there.
Decorate With A Story
If you have any heirlooms or other special pieces that hold significance to you and your family, you should certainly incorporate them into your cottage design. This will help to make your cottage property feel more like home.
Decorate With Texture
With a cottage property, you might want to decorate with coziness in mind. A great way to invite a sense of coziness into your space is by including plenty of cozy textures, such as fluffy area rugs, eclectic couch cushions, and plushy throw blankets.
To avoid your cottage decor looking mismatched and thrown together, try to incorporate a cohesive element. A good way to do this is via color.
Cottage style doesn’t necessarily have to be rustic or beach-inspired. If you prefer a glam look, consider incorporating things like metallics, high gloss finishings, and large format artwork into your cottage design.
