DIY Dollar Store Easter Wreath
No matter the season or occasion, you can never really go wrong with a thematic wreath. In that spirit, event designer, Rick Mayhew, shows us how to create a versatile Easter wreath using supplies from the dollar store. What’s more, he also shows us how to transition it from season to season. Here’s how:
Step 1: Assemble Your Materials
What you’ll need: a styrofoam circle, wires, picks or wood skewers, and an assortment of Easter-themed memorabilia; think: silk flowers, ribbon, feathers boas, Easter grass in various colors, wicker eggs, assorted plastic eggs, a small birdhouse, and small rubber boots.
Step 2: Assemble Your Wreath
Starting with your styrofoam circle and your feather boas, simple wrap your boas around your styrofoam circle until the entire circle is concealed. Secure the boas with an adhesive of some sort or with pins.
Step 3: Accessorize
To fasten your accessories onto your wreath, adhere them to wires, picks, or wood skewers, which you should also be able to find at the dollar store. Once your flowers, eggs, and other small accessories are secured to the wires, picks, or wood skewers, you can insert them straight into the styrofoam, where they will stay fastened without using glue or any such adhesive. Accessorizing your wreath using this method is important, because you’ll be able to redecorate your wreath later on without damaging it.
Step 4: Change It Up
Once you’ve had a chance to enjoy your Easter-themed wreath, you can easily redecorate your styrofoam circle. Simply pluck out your accessories, and replace them with new, seasonal accessories as you see fit.
Happy wreathing!
