Easy Home Office DIY
Attention all telecommuters: what do you do when you want and need a home office, but you don’t really have the space for one? This simple DIY allows you to create a home office space pretty much anywhere.
This is a creative solution that couldn’t come soon enough for the growing number of telecommuters across North America, because as far as rooms in the house go, the home office is one that tends to get low priority. More often than not, the home office ends up being the spare room, and if you don’t have one of those, Marc and Mandy urge you to consider even the most unlikely nooks and crannies for this unique DIY project.
What you’ll need: a vacant wall in a quiet area of your home, a shelf, wall brackets, three office organizers, screws, paint, a drill
Step 1: Mount
First things first, measure and mark on your wall where you would like your shelf “desk” to go. Once you’ve found the ideal spot, start installing your wall brackets. Following the installation of your brackets, you can go ahead and set up your shelf “desk.” Ensure your shelf is stable and that it can support the weight of your computer monitor or laptop computer.
Step 2: Office Organizers
Your three office organizers will serve the same purpose as drawers would in a traditional desk. Again, measure and mark on the wall, beneath the shelf, where you would like the organizers to go. Once you’ve made your markings, mount the organizers on the wall beneath your “desk.”
Step 3: Decorate
In the video above, you’ll see that Marc and Mandy have painted various sized cans and fastened them to a platform, creating a minimalistic, space-savvy organization system for pencils, pens, and other office equipment. You can employ creative DIYs such as this to give your makeshift home office a personal touch and lend it some flare.
I would LOVE to be able to work from home!
