Expert Advice: Staging a House
In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show: Ask An Expert, Tony Martone from Preston Myre gives advice to help stage your home to sell.
Q: I’m getting ready to sell my house. Do you have any advice?
Tony Martone: When you’re getting your house ready for sale, one of the things that we recommend to do is to make sure all of your lights work and you don’t have any burnt out bulbs. When showing the home, have all the lights on and open up all your curtains to let in plenty of natural light too. Another thing we usually encourage is that the owners professionally clean their carpets, because the last thing you want is for potentially buyers to be turned off by the smell and look of dirty carpets. Another great and clever idea is to fill the home with an inviting scent. The smell of baking is a good example. Finally, we recommend clients to take any personal pictures off the walls. Personal pictures can distract from the home’s features and make it hard for potentially buyers to see themselves living in the home.
