Choosing a contractor is not a matter to be taken lightly. Today on The Marc and Mandy Show, Michel Teddy Laurin from Handyco shares some advice with viewers on how to choose the best contractor for the job.
Q: How do I know the contractor I’m hiring is reputable?
A: When hiring a contractor, first and foremost, check them out online. Go check on Facebook, Instagram, or anywhere else where people may have reviewed them. Read reviews thoroughly. You should also ensure that they are licensed with the city and that they have insurance. To mitigate your risk of encountering a fraud, be aware and do your research.
Q: What is the most common problem in construction and renovation?
A: The most common problems you see are not obtaining a proper permit and not having the proper licensing and/or insurance. Especially if you are working with a condo site, make sure you are complying with building codes, as well as city codes.
