Q: What are some hot items in the hobby world?
Francis Munroe: One hot trends that we have happening right now is Magic the Gathering. We have about 10 to 25 people coming into our store on Friday nights sometimes. We have really popular staff picks there, such as Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, and Munchkin. We also have a game called Scion: A Storm of Ice and Fire, which is the big thing for fans of Game of Thrones.
Q: What makes the hobby community thrive?
Francis Munroe: My staff are very passionate about their hobbies. When customers come into the store, we talk the lingo and we get excited with the customers and their projects and what they’re doing. We have great customers coming through on a daily basis with all kinds of interests and backgrounds, such as magic players, comic creators, and table-top and board-gamers. We’ve also had modelers come in since we first opened doors. This is a place where you can come and get inspired and if you have any problems, we do our best to help you out. We host gaming conventions, we also do charity work, and we support gaming clubs. At the end of the day, we wouldn’t be here without great communities supporting us.
