Expert Q&A: Home Renos
Renovations can be tricky business, which is why it’s best to consult with an expert before beginning any kind of home renovation. In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show: Ask An Expert, Remon Hanoun from Home Reno Direct answers the hard questions about renovating your home. Keep reading for the Q & A.
Q: What are the ‘must-haves’ I should include in my bathroom renovations?
Remon Hanoun: Well, definitely a large format tile, which will minimize the grout and related cleaning and maintaining. I also recommend a walk-in shower, for easier access. Adding extra light, via windows, will make a huge difference in terms of ventilation and aesthetics. Finally, a nice vanity-style sink setup and plenty of counter space.
Q: I want to remodel my small kitchen. How can I make the space look larger?
RH: To give your kitchen the appearance of spaciousness, it’s a good idea to use lighter colors, high gloss paint, knock some walls down if you can, and remove the bulkhead above the kitchen cabinets and take the cabinets all the way up to the ceiling.
Q: Is it possible to relocate the fixtures in my basement bathroom?
RH: Absolutely, you can change the fixtures, as long as there is an open space where we can relocate the fixtures to.
Q: How much will an addition to my home cost?
RH: Adding an addition to a home could cost you anywhere from $150.00 per square foot, all the way up to $350.00 per square foot. It really depends on the space and the size of the room.
