Expert Q&A: Home Staging
If you have plans to sell your home, you’ve probably considered home staging as a means of supplementing your marketing efforts. In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show, Karolina Jandera from Fraser View Home Staging answers questions about staging a home for selling. Keep reading for the Q & A.
Q: Should I stage my house before putting it up for sale?
Karolina Jandera: Home staging is very important. Staging is an excellent and affordable way of marketing your residential property. It is the visual merchandising of your house using furniture, art, and home decorative items. The goal of staging really is to create an inviting and appealing space that can speak to many. Most buyers look at a real estate website or do a drive-by of the property they are interested in. It is very important for your house to look appealing and inviting. The goal is to create a warm and inviting space that allows the potential buyer to visualize themselves in their new home.
Q: How do you recommend I go about staging my home?
Karolina Jandera: There are two types of staging: vacant Staging, where you can simply pack everything up, move it into storage, and furnish your home with brand new furniture rented from your stager—or you can simply stage your house while you still live there. A stager would simply come into your home, mark certain items that need to be packed up and stored away, and bring in a few key items that would refresh your house and make it look appealing to a wide range of potential buyers.
