Keeping your family organized and on a tight schedule can be a very daunting and hectic task to say the least. For parents trying to get ahead (and stay ahead) of all the chaos, Marc has designed something called a “Family Command Centre.” With a little organization, this creative idea should help to mitigate some of the stress that comes with the territory of having a family.

What is it?

As its name suggests, Marc’s Family Command Centre is a centralized system which your family can use on a daily basis to stay organized. What’s included in your Family Command Centre and where it goes is all dependent on the unique needs and habits of your family members; that said, keep reading for some suggestions that might work for you!

Where should it go?

A great place for your Family Command Centre is in the entrance way or mudroom of your home. These are good spots because they experience high-traffic, so they’re highly visible to your kids and to you. The entrance way or mudroom is also a place where your kids transition from indoors to outdoors and vice versa, so including your Family Command Centre in a transitional area will encourage them to be better organized when they are taking off for school, or taking off their backpacks after school.

What should it include?

A place for your kids to hang up their backpacks, and relay any paperwork from their teachers is an absolute must for any Family Command Centre. These elements will help you little ones to stay organized. As for the adults, a spot for organizing mail is a great idea. Consider breaking down your mail into categories: bills, junk mail, mail for the neighbor, et cetera. A couple of key hooks, a calendar, a bulletin board, a white board or chalkboard, a clock, and a chore list also make for great attributes to an effective Family Command Centre.
