Fostering Debate Talent Academy
In this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Mariko Zamani interviews Frankie Cena about Fostering Debate Talent Academy. Check out the video above or keep reading to find out about their chat.
Mariko Zamani: What kinds of classes do you offer here?
Frankie Cena: I think the academy is very unique. We offer public speaking and debating classes, which—a lot of people when I say that to them, they say what is that and what does that mean? Basically, we’re teaching young people to competitively public speak and debate.
Mariko Zamani: That is very, very cool. And do you usually work with younger kids, older kids?
Frankie Cena: When we first started, we were actually working with high school students, grade 8 – 12. But now, as the activity has grown, we’re actually working with students as young as kindergarden and as old as university. In the K-3 program, we’re looking at just building confidence and just having fun, playing games, and just being able to speak confidently in group setting. And then, as they get older, then they start learning the more concrete skills of how to write compelling, persuasive speeches and how to convince someone of an argument.
