Four Wedding Centre-Piece Categories
If you’ve ever been involved in the planning of a wedding, you’ll know that centrepieces are a key decorative element to consider. On this special wedding decor and design themed episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Event Planner Rick Mayhew shares advice on how to decorate a table with four different types of wedding centrepieces. Check out the video above to learn about the four types of wedding centrepieces, or keep reading for some tips on designing the perfect centrepiece for your big day.
Consider your theme
If you have a theme for your wedding, your centrepiece should go with the flow of that. If you don’t have a theme established, consider your own personal preferences. Do you like vintage styles or modern? Rustic or glam? Feathers or crystals?
Consider size
The size of your centrepiece should depend on the size of your venue, the size of your tables, and whether or not the stage is elevated. The last thing you want on the day of is centrepieces that are too big, obstructing the views of your guests, or too small, ruining the balance of your tablescape.
Diversity your flowers
Though it’s not uncommon to be partial to a particular kind of flower, sometimes it’s smarter and cheaper to include many different types of flowers in your centrepiece. Ask your florist or wedding planner to help you figure out which flowers will compliment your favorite blooms, without breaking the bank.
Don’t dismiss DIY
Centrepieces can be costly, so if you can DIY your own, why not? Scour Pinterest and other websites for inspirations and have your bridal party help out with the crafting before the big day.
Consider sturdiness
Finally, to avoid your centrepieces toppling over on the big day, make sure each piece is stable. You can even test them out before the big day by “bumping” into your tables to make sure your centrepieces are shock-proof.
