Great Hair Care Tips
Today on The Marc and Mandy Show: Try This, Marilyn Vendittelli from INdustry Hair and Esthetics gives some tips for achieving great and hydrated hair.
Why your hair might need hydrating:
Your hair can be on the dry side for any number of reasons, including over-styling, over-washing, exposure to heat from the sun, or not enough oil being produced from your scalp. Fortunately, you can rehydrate your hair in a few simple steps:
- Shampoo. Shampoo is designed to help cleanse the scalp and to help to prepare for the possibility of any new hair growth. So, when you shampoo, you really want to scrub away and remove any buildup that might be clogging up those pores. Shampooing pretty vigorously is also great, because it will help to loosen up any dryness in the scalp area.
- Condition. Conditioner is very important. A lot of people don’t like to use conditioner because they say it weighs down the hair. If you feel that is the case, you’re probably using the wrong conditioner. Conditioner is designed to close up that hair cuticle, so applying it from mid-shaft to end is all that’s really needed.
- Rinsing. Rinsing with cooler water will help to close up that cuticle and lock in that moisture.
- Drying. Did you know your hair is most sensitive when it’s wet? For that reason, you don’t want to be pulling on the hair by tying it up in a ponytail, hair drying it on a high heat setting, or towel drying it too roughly. Instead, start off with a light detangling spray, comb the product all the way through the hair, and dry the hair on a gentle setting.
