Hidden Bookcase Bathroom
Designer Michelle Mawby shares one of her creations: a bookcase that is actually the door to a hidden bathroom! This design helped liven up the entrance of this home while adding a unique touch.
When it comes to contemporary home design, customization seems to be the reoccurring theme. The rapid growth in accessible customization for anything from flooring to fixtures to furniture has made it possible for homeowners to craft their own creative solutions to every day problems. For example, if you’re working with a small space, you can customize your dining room table and chairs so that they’re collapsible, or customize your ottoman to accommodate hidden storage. Celebrity Designer, Michelle Mawby, has done just this with her unique book case design, which also happens to be a unique bathroom door design.
When confronted with what she perceived as a design flaw in her home – a powder room that appeared immediately facing her front foyer – she decided to get creative. With visual impact as her goal, Mawby redesigned her standard bathroom door into a bookcase, to add a little storage and decorum to the foyer, without taking away the door’s original purpose.
