Check with your insurer

Rental car companies typically offer insurance that you can purchase. Before agreeing to insurance, make sure to inquire with your own car insurance provider to find out if your policy includes coverage for rental cars. Call or email your insurer to find out.

Take good care of the car

When a rental car is damaged, you may incur “loss of use” charges. To avoid such charges, make sure you are taking care of the rental as if it is your own car, including keeping it clean.

Refuel before returning

Before you return your rental car, make sure you take the time to fill up the gas tank. If you don’t, you will likely be charged a premium fill up fee by the rental company.
