Keeping Curls in Cold Weather
The winter month can be tough on our skin and hair. In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show: Beauty & Style, Kim Dykstra of Coco’s Hair and Beauty Bar gives tips on how to keep curly hair hydrated in cold weather.
Less glycerin
When the weather starts to get cold, you want to use products in your hair that have less glycerin. Glycerin can dry your hair out if it’s not used in the right way. That said, a little bit of glycerin in your products is fine and will give your hair body.
Sleep on silk
Curly hair is especially prone to frizz and breakage. To protect your hair from those things at night, try sleeping on a silk pillowcase. You’ll find your curls will have less tangles and frizz in the morning, and will be in better shape in general.
Maximize moisture retention
You can maximize moisture retention in your curly hair by layering products, such as creams, leave-in conditioners, and oils. Make sure you’re applying these kinds of products to your hair when it’s wet.
