Key Components for a Renovation

Q: What are the key components for a home renovation?

Bryan Baeumler: Set your budget. 

Sarah Baeumler: That was my number one too!

Bryan: Make sure you have enough money to do this and then create a plan that will fit within that budget. You can’t do it the other way around. Sarah has so many plans that we can’t afford. You have to set your budget first and then plan for something you can do. And, once you get into it, be willing to compromise the cosmetics. Be willing to compromise on the finishes to do the important stuff that will reduce the operating cost or reduce the long-term maintenance costs or reduce the carrying costs of your property. 

Sarah: And I’m also going to play Devil’s Advocate there as well a little bit though, because there are also some great products that you can invest in. I’m not one for I have a different pillow for every season. I buy things that last and have longevity in their products and how they’re made. So, I think there are sort of two sides to that story.
