Made in Manitoba Logo Anniversary
In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show, Pina Romolo of Piccola Cucina and the Manitoba Food and Beverage Association shares with Mandy the history and importance of the Manitoba food and drink logo.
Mandy: One of my favorite things that is trending is #ShopLocal. And I have Pina here with me from the Manitoba Food and Beverage Association, and we’re here to talk about just that. In Manitoba, we have this beautiful little logo that is on a lot of products on shelves. It’s Made in Manitoba. Tell me a little bit more about that?
Pina: Absolutely. So, we’re proud to say that we promoted the idea of buying local long before it became a marketing trend. We’re celebrating our 26th year of the Manitoba Made logo, and this helps consumers identify the foods that were made right here in Manitoba.
Mandy: Because of supporting local, if there are people who are wanting to break into the food industry who have a product they’re very passionate about you can help them get that onto store shelves can’t you?
Pina: Absolutely. As an industry-led association, we provide training, expertise, resources, and contacts for those interested in breaking into the food industry. So, anything from training, workforce development, human resources, creating opportunities, as well for networking. So, we often meet and we’ll share some Manitoba-made food and and have an opportunity to connect with one another and look for ways to to collaborate. We also provide a voice at different levels of government. So, we’re very involved with policy and across the country. So, we have a national organization that we’re plugged into. So, at the ottawa level we can help with promoting change if that needs to happen within the industry.
