Mitre Saw Tips with Paul Lafrance

Paul shares some tips for using a mitre saw safely and effectively. 

What is a Mitre Saw? 

A Mitre Saw is a stationary saw that can be used to make cuts at a variety of angles. This type of saw is well suited for any type of framing, woodworking, or molding project. 

What are some tips and tricks for using one correctly? 

• Always wear safety googles when operating a mitre saw. 
• When using a mitre saw, stand perpendicular to the machine; meaning, stand straight and don’t lean into the machine. 
• You never want to start the saw while it’s directly touching the wood. Instead, start the saw while it’s above the wood, and carefully lower it down once you’re ready to start cutting. 
• If you need to cut a bunch of same sized wood pieces, rather than making each measurement and cut individually, set up something called a “stop” or a “jig.” This will allow you to preset a measurement, so you can cut continuously while only measuring once.
