Money Saving Tips for Kitchen Renos
Though renovations in general tend to be costly, kitchen renovations are usually the most expensive of the bunch. In this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show: Design Tour, Chris Palmer shares his best cost saving tips for kitchen renovations.
Reface Cabinet Boxes
The most pricy elements of cabinetry is the cabinet boxes. Even if you would like a new look to your cabinetry, Chris recommends sticking with the existing cabinetry boxes. So long as they’re in good working condition, you can simply reface them, rather than replacing them completely.
Transform With Trim
Another way to give your kitchen cabinetry an upgraded look is by hiring someone to create custom trim. Adding crown molding trim or under-trim can transform your cabinet boxes.
Consider a Mobile Kitchen Island
A kitchen island is something that’s usually considered a splurge and a luxury. One cost-effective way to give yourself a kitchen island without breaking the bank is by repurposing an old table and transforming it into a mobile kitchen island.
Use Your Existing Layout
When renovating, it can be tempting to redesign the entire thing, layout and all. If you’re working with a tight budget, work with a renovation expert to find out the best way to utilize the space and layout that you already have.
