Change your cabinet doors
Changing your cabinet fronts is an easy and cost-effective way to get that new, updated look that you’re looking for. Refacing your kitchen cabinet essentially means that you’re changing your door fronts. During our day to day kitchen use, the actual cabinet boxes don’t get much damage and wear and tear. Where you tend to see the wear and tear is on the door fronts.
Keep plumbing intact
Every time you move a sink, a dishwasher, or a gas stove, the price of your renovation will increase by sometimes thousands of dollars. Unless it’s necessary, keep your large appliances in place and renovate around them.
Shop local
While you may be tempted to do your shopping at big-box stores, keep in mind that you’re paying for the price to import, on top of the price of the product. Instead, trying shopping around local. Local vendors are also more likely to be open to price negotiation and customization.
DIY
Whenever possible, do minor renovations yourself. You can save a lot by choosing to forgo delivery from contractors and picking up your materials and appliances yourself.
