Natural Cleaning Ideas
House cleaning is something of a universal practice. We all need products and tools to clean our homes, but many of the products available in store are expensive and laden with chemicals which can be harmful in the long run. If you’re in the market for a natural or home-made alternative, you’ve come to the right place! In this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Lisa Brignell of Take Time Home Cleaning & Lifestyle Services shares with Mandy some ideas for natural cleaning products.
Natural all-purpose cleaner
What you’ll need: vinegar, water, lemon (rind), spray bottle
To make a natural, general all-purpose cleaner, take one part vinegar, one part water, and the rind of a a lemon, which you can peel or grate off. The rind of the lemon has acid which can help to fight stubborn stains, while vinegar is a disinfecting agent. Mix these three ingredients in a spray bottle and leave it for a week. Once the week is up, you’re all set to clean!
Countertop cleaner
What you’ll need: baking soda, warm water
To clean your countertops, the inside of your fridge, or your other appliances, you can use this baking soda solution. As many of us already know, baking soda naturally deodorizes areas; to boot, it’s also great to clean and shine stainless steel. To create this cleaner, combine four tablespoons of baking soda with a liter of warm water, and then pour that solution onto a clean clothes or sponge, and apply it to the surface that has build-up or smudges.
Drain cleaner
What you’ll need: baking soda, vinegar,
If you have slow drain in your bathroom or kitchen sinks, combine a half of a cup of baking soda and a half of a cup of vinegar, and then pour it down the drain. Leave it for 30 to 45 minutes (you should hear it fizz) and then pour a kettle or pot full of boiling water into the drain.
