Even if you keep up-to-date about paint and color trends, you might not know where exactly these trends come from. On this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Thoma Doehring of Tri-City Paint shares how color trends are chosen for the new year.
How are color trends chosen each year?
Color trends are actually based on a lot of scientific research. There’s an organization called the Color Marketing Group, which has thousands of members. They go out and research and attend different trade shows to see what’s out there. They also research the current political climate, technology, scientific discoveries, cultural exchanges and the global movement of people. All of those factors create stories. And from the stories, we create the colors. Not all the colors that are put onto the world color palette or the regional and continental types of palettes are going to be seen in the home. This is because these colors are going to be used in plastics, automotives, activewear, and so many different ways.
