Q: When trying to buy a house, how do I make my offer stand out?
Todd Talbot: How can a buyer make their offer stand out? This is how my brain works: You could streak through the neighborhood with the offer, drop it off, and then run away—but that might not get the job done. I think ultimately, being respectful to the seller and understanding where they’re coming from is really important when you’re structuring an offer. You know, the sellers are people too, so make sure you understand that they’re going through an emotional and stressful process in selling their house. So, be gentle, take your time, don’t be pushy, and ultimately (as I said before) look for a win-win situation where all parties leave feeling like they were well taken care of.
