Today, on this Design Tour segment of the show, we tour a gorgeous timberframe cottage with Designer Shawn Hunter of Discovery Dream Homes. Exposed Bedrock
One of the key features of this property is actually the land that it’s on. It’s exposed bedrock, which has a lot of character and it’s own unique sense of style. The cottage is on piers, as if it was on an ocean pier, which gives it a nautical vibe.
Industrial Design
In an effort to capture a contemporary, rustic look, so the outside is finished with steel, including steel finishes and steel roofing. There also exposed timber, which portrays the natural beauty of the wood. The wood contrasts to the steel and glass in a very impactful way.
Mono-Simplistic Roof
The roofline and overall geometry of the building is fairly simple and straightforward. This gives the construction and surrounding environment a chance to shine. Another key feature of the property is the views.
Heavy Timberframe
The property is constructed of heavy timberframe, which is not only the building together, but showcases the beauty of the timber from the inside.
Herringbone Floorings
The herringbone flooring throughout is a fine detail that packs a big punch. There’s no baseboards in this building, so the flooring meets the walls seamlessly.
