The Surprising Benefits of Paving with Recycled Tires
Here at The Marc and Mandy Show, we’re all about the three R’s. In this segment, Mariko Zamani chats with Jason Schoenau, of Enviro Paving, about a rubber driveway paving option which utilizes recycled tires and performs better in all weather conditions as well!
What is Rubber Paving?
Rubber Paving is comprised of recycled tire crumb that is combined with several additional elements to create strength, weather resistance, and beauty for your home. Utilizing rubber paving is a great way to fill unsightly cracks in asphalt and concrete.
Why recycled tires?
Tire rubber is very durable and flexible, making it a viable material for the driveway. Rubber does well in extreme weather conditions, such as extreme cold in the wintertime. Additionally, snow and ice won’t bond to rubber. When it rains, the porous nature of the rubber allows water to run through it, rather than accumulating on top.
What is the process for laying down the pavement?
Enviro Paving shows up on sight with a large truck and all materials necessary, including the rubber. The rubber is then mixed and poured on site, and the pavement is laid by hand.
What else can Rubber Paving be used for?
In addition to the driveway, Rubber Paving can be used on stairs, sidewalks, pool decks, and pathways.
What are some other benefits?
Laying down Rubber Paving is about half the cost of traditional concrete. It’s closer in price to asphalt, but it’s definitely the eco-friendly alternative.
