Tips Grilling the Perfect Steak
On this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, John Wildenborg shares with Marc some tips for grilling the perfect steak. Check out the video above to learn more or keep reading for a mouthwatering recipe for Moroccan steak.
What you’ll need: 2 beef steaks, 1/2 tbsp ras-el-hanout (spice mix from North Africa), vegetable stock, 2 cloves garlic, 2 spring onions, 1 carrot, 1 red pepper, 3/4 cups couscous, 3 tbsp coriander, 1 cup baby spinach, 1/2 lemon
Step 1: Sear The Steaks
In an oiled, cast-iron skillet on your stovetop, cook your steaks over medium-high heat, 5 – 7 minutes on each side, or until a dark crust has formed. Season the steaks with Moroccan spice. Then, transfer the contents of your skillet to the oven and roast until the meat has reached desired tenderness.
Step 2: Cook The Couscous
In a pot with fresh, boiling water, cook your couscous. A good rule of thumb for cooking couscous is 1.5 cups of water for every 1 cup of dry couscous. Season the couscous with the same Moroccan spice you used on the steaks.
Step 3: Prep The Veggies
While your steak is searing and your couscous is cooking, you can begin to prep the vegetables. Slice your carrot, bell pepper, and green onion, and then transfer your veggies into a pan to be sautéed. Cook your veggies for a few minutes, or until they reach desired tenderness. As a final step, add your baby spinach to the pan and cook for a brief period. Plate your steak and enjoy!
